Okay, so it’s entirely probably that my recent spate of sewing blogs are mondo boring to 100% of you. Sorry?
Anyway, today a new pattern I had bought arrived in the mail! And, turns out, I was this seller’s 100th sale, so she threw in two other bonus donuts! (The one I actually originally ordered is the bottom middle one.)
Vry vry vry excited!!
I was inspired to buy a shirtwaist dress pattern by this blog, which is written by an evangelical Christian woman with three home schooled daughters (five children altogether, but the boys are away at college and boarding school), who lives in an old farmhouse, apparently wears dresses every day, and to whom “in town” means a place with one store which also functions as the one restaurant. (I’m not making fun or anything – she also hangs out in Chicago sometimes and they go on these awesome-sounding trips all the time and she’s genuinely awesome re sewing and cooking and stuff and seems to have unintentionally re-invented Montessori I think? and is also apparently nearly the best nicest person ever, so). I love the idea that the one thing she and I have in common is, “omg look at this awesome vintage pattern!” “omg I know! Sweet!”
Also, though, when it arrived, I realized that it’s pretty much the most complicated pattern I’ve ever sewn: interfacing (sigh, that I shouldn’t just skip like usual), a zillion buttons, pockets, and a COLLAR which is super hardcore dude! Also, it requires 6 yards of fabric, which is basically insane. So I had to buy more today and can’t even start making it yet, anyway. Boo. Working on a frankenstein-ed muslin right now from random scraps.
Also I bought from the same seller this, which is amazingly pink in real life and is fantastic. It’s a pin. I should start wearing more pins I think.
I have a good bee-shaped gold pin with diamonds all over it (“gold” and “diamonds”). Now that I’ve typed that, though, I’m remembering that I also bought one for someone else who I think also maybe reads my blog. It’s not that you’re not special! It’s just that I liked it so extra-special much that I wanted one for myself!
Anyway. Dresses soon!

Do you know what pins look really nice on?
Capes. -
I like pins off to the side when I wear turtlenecks. Much nicer than a necklace IMO.
